Two Great Classroom Activities
	Big Numbers Learners verbally exchange big numbers from an income statement of a grocery store, filling in the blanks with information they do not have. Big Numbers is an activity that learners become easily engaged with, so it is a great icebreaker for starting a DVBE seminar. The resource manual has strategies to handle big and small classes.
	Big Numbers is an easy activity to present in your classroom. It is suitable for pre-intermediates (and higher) and for regular ELT classes. Your prep time is low and the activity should keep your learners occupied for a half hour. However, you should be warned that because your learners are going to like Big Numbers, they will ask you for more of the DVBE program. And the rest of DVBE requires a bit more prep work.
	Increase & Decrease The words “increase” and “decrease” are just too important for international business to left to the advanced levels of English training. Intermediate level learners need to be exposed to this complicated grammar now—because, most likely, they are already doing some international business and need to start moving these words into their comfortable vocabulary.
	Increase & Decrease divides the class into two parts: each with different information about income statement changes for a grocery store. The learners will write sentences describing these changes. Then learners will pair up (from the two different groups) and read the sentences to each other, listening, and applying the calculations.
	The actual classroom activity is about a half hour. But there is a lot of opportunity for some much needed grammar lessons, so class duration will depend on how much grammar your learners want and can handle for these two important words.
